Manual therapy

Effective hands-on treatment for musculo-skeletal disorders

There are many different types of Manual therapy:-

  • Mobilisation – Gliding the joints in a rhythmical manner
  • Manipulation – Gap joint surfaces
  • Use muscle contractions to restrict or move joints.
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Acupuncture
  • Dry Needling

Manual therapy aims to:

  • Reduces pain and muscle spasm
  • Increase active movement
  • Activate weak muscles

Manual therapy is effective in treating neck and back pain and is recommended in national and international treatment guidelines. The majority of patients with spinal pain can expect to see a reduction in pain and improvement in function following a short course of manual therapy.

Exercises, given to you by your Chartered Physiotherapist, will compliment the manual therapy treatment and speed up your recovery. We aim to treat you promptly with 70% of our patients require no more than 3 sessions.
